1. Follow MD on Twitter - June EOFY09 specials

2. New firewall blocker

As you may have seen, MD has a firewall on all servers that protects your sites against malicious activity. However, legitimate users get blocked all the time for a variety of reasons
(such as typing in the wrong cpanel or email password).

Until last week the firewall would drop the connection and from the customer's location it would appear as if the site were down. We have now upgraded the firewall response - blocked customers are redirected to a "Firewall Block" notice page, where they are invited to enter their name and email to get their IP unblocked. MD staff will rapidly review the request and unblock your IP. Its just another way we make life easier for you!

3. vSlice Expansion underway
Our vSlice virtual dedicated solutions have been a big hit - so big in fact that we have ordered extra hardware to cope! Compared to our existing vslice cluster, the extra hardware will have:

Important Reminders for our Customers

Keep your contact information up to date
It is very important that you keep your contact information up to date especially your email address. We will contact you solely by your email address therefore any change will result in correspondence not being received.

Backing Up your hosting account
One of the most important things you can do for yourself is create constant backups of your website and download them to your PC. Backup is a feature of your hosting account and is quite easy to complete.

Know your email account limits
More often than not your email account has a individual limit which can fill quite easily, thereby blocking further email in being received and bounced back to sender.

File and Folder permissions
Having the wrong permissions can cause security issues for your account and lead to a high risk of being hacked. Please make sure that .php files remain at the permission level 644 and folders are set to 755. You should never change permissions to 777 for security reasons.
