A designer who is flying at the moment is Scott Kember being a very modest client of ours who has some what flown under the radar. Apart from being a client of MD he has an amazing artistic flair offering web design, signage, print, advertising, logo design, graphic design via his clean, simplistic professional web presence.. Scott's creativity is quite noticeable by viewing some of his amazing logo designs and as we all know how much a great logo can define a company image.
Some time or another you may have noticed that you have been blocked by our firewall. We have stringent rules on our servers to protect your data from nasty hackers but you may ask why was I blocked? Here are some reasons;
* You entered your password incorrectly 3 times in a row. Our firewall has a tool called "brute force detection" to protect your account from people that try and guess your password at random (e.g., using common dictionary words or other combinations of words and numbers they think you might be using).
* You are checking your pop3 email too often. Accounts are limited to 60 checks an hour - anymore and you trigger the firewall block response. Note that some email clients have a setting to check each email inbox for new email every minute. If you then press send/receive manually then you can easily run over the 60 limit. The best workaround is to decrease the automatic check to once every 5 minutes, and to limit your send/receive usage.
* You are trying to send multiple files over multiple connections using ftp. Some FTP clients have the option of creating additional connections to the server to speed up file transfers. Our firewall disallows this practice and will block any accounts that engage in this activity.
* You are creating too many simultaneous tcp connections to an MD server. The connections limit is set at a level that still permits normal enjoyment of your service but will temporarily block any activity that looks suspicious.
* You (or a script residing on your webspace) is trying to run or execute a suspicious script. The firewall tracks these scripts against a database of security rules (known as mod_sec). If you trigger one of these rules you may be blocked as a precautionary measure.
What do I do if I am blocked?
Submit a support ticket or phone support, all calls are answered via the support queue and ticket response times are <10 minutes which is quite a feat.
Getting good results in google is generally considered showing up in the first 2-3 pages as viewers usually give up if they have not found what they are looking for past these pages.
You have to be realistic as there are millions and millions of sites out there all competing for the same keyword.
for example: if we search for the word "hosting" via google it tells me there are 381 million results where mdwebhosting.com.au ranks 4th
You may ask the principles for having a high ranking site , make sure your site is content rich with relevant information regarding your keyword, also importantly work on link building by forming strategic partnership with other providers/companies that link back to your website. Basically link building is like a popularity contest, google will rank your site much higher dependent on how many "cool/popular" sites link back to yours.
Some points to keep in mind;
1. Have realistic goals.
2. Include text in your page that talks about the keyword you want the page ranked for.
3. Get good quality links to your site.
If you need help attaining your goals feel free to take advantage of our marketing offerings (http://www.mdwebhosting.com.au/seo-overview.html)
Lets face it! There is so much competition out there that it can be hard to make a living with an online presence these days. So you make ask, how can i differentiate myself from my competition?
1. Professionalism; Shopping online can be a real cost saver as you have a number cost comparisons at just a click of a button, so which provider to choose? Personally I would not part with my cash if the provider has an unprofessional website. To a visitor, unprofessional means incredible.
2. Contact; Remember visitors are looking for reasons not to buy from you. Make sure your phone number is prominent on the header of your website. Make sure your business address is an actual location and you have a contact form available for your prospective client.
3. Headline; Something often overlooked! An effective headline on your web site can attribute to an dramatic increase to sales. The purpose of this is to attract your visitor's attention and compel them to read further rather than moving to another site.
4. OPT-IN; Subscriber listings can be crucial to building long lasting business to consumer relationships. Have a subscription form on your website or a pop tab where users can opt-in for newsletters, special offers and articles. Remember once a visitor buys from you and are happy with the initial experience more often than not they will buy from you again.
